Gary Neville, a Manchester United star, has accused Ralf Rangnick, the club’s manager, of ending Marcus Rashford’s career with his lineup selection against Leicester City on Saturday.
Despite Cristiano Ronaldo’s absence due to illness, Rashford was only selected on the bench for Man United’s Premier League match against Leicester, as Bruno Fernandes played a false nine.
Rashford’s omission surprised Neville, who said Rangnick’s decision would have ‘killed’ the England international.
“I was battling a little bit with it before the game without the centre striker,” Neville said after Man United drew 1-1 with Leicester at Old Trafford.
“Marcus Rashford was killed today because he wasn’t playing in that team.”
“I know he’s been poor, I know he’s lacked confidence, but for Cristiano Ronaldo to pull out this morning and for Paul Pogba to come in and change the system of play and the way the game has been approached, rather than just putting Marcus Rashford in as a striker as a straight swap after training with the players for the last ten days, I think it’s a huge step forward.”
“There are too many things at this club that are uncertain in general.”
