Victor Osimhen is the player the Ghanaian Black Stars are afraid of, according to Super Eagles assistant captain William Troost-Ekong.
This was expressed by Troost-Ekong in response to Nigeria’s 0-0 draw with Ghana on Friday night.
In a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying playoff first leg match in Kumasi, the Super Eagles held the Black Stars to a goalless draw.
“It was difficult for the boys,” he remarked. “It didn’t help that the pitch was a try pitch,” Troost-Ekong stated in his post-match press conference.
“They had trouble moving the ball swiftly at times.” But I think Ghana did a fantastic job, but I think everyone was afraid of Victor [Osimhen]. Most of the time [against him], they were two against one.
“We’ve learnt that against a good squad like Ghana, we need to be more clinical.” You must score when you have one or two chances, or you will not be able to win the game.”
On Tuesday, Nigeria will face Ghana in a rematch at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja.
