FOOTBALL: Man Utd's Bruno Fernandes seeks a new shirt number

Bruno Fernandes, the Manchester United playmaker, has revealed that he wants the number eight shirt at the club.

Fernandes, on the other hand, has stated that he will not accept it from colleague Juan Mata.

Mata currently wears the number 18, whereas Fernandes has been obliged to wear it since his arrival in January 2020.

During a Twitter question and answer session, a fan questioned the Portugal international if he will change his squad number to eight next season.

“I hope to obtain it one day,” the 27-year-old said.

But for the time being, I’m hoping to have my brother @juanmata8 close by.”

Because Mata’s current contract at Old Trafford expires next season, Fernandes is a strong contender for the number eight shirt.
