Ruud van Nistelrooy, a former Manchester United striker, is expected to take over as manager of PSV Eindhoven, a European team.
According to the Dutch newspaper Eindhovens Dagblad, Van Nistelrooy is the’most essential candidate’ to succeed Roger Schmidt at PSV, with the Dutch club willing to ‘bet’ on the 45-year-old.
For the first time in his coaching career, Van Nistelrooy will be promoted from the reserve team to senior management.
Since 2013, the former Real Madrid great has been a part of the PSV coaching staff.
He began his career with the under-17s and was promoted to manager of the under-19s in 2018.
Last year, Van Nistelrooy stepped in to take over as coach of Jong PSV, and he is now the most likely successor to Schmidt, who is set to depart at the end of the season.
