The Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB, said on Sunday that the Federal Government of Nigeria, led by President Muhammadu Buhari, and its Kenyan counterpart had confessed complicity in the detention of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
The delay in clarification, according to IPOB, has confirmed the complicity of the Nigerian and Kenyan governments in Kanu’s detention.

In June 2021, Kanu was apprehended in an African country thought to be Kenya and extradited to Nigeria to face terrorism charges.

IPOB spokesman Emma Powerful, meanwhile, claims that the Kenyan government permitted its airport to be used as a kidnapping base.
Powerful also demanded an explanation from the Department of State Services, or DSS, for its role in Kanu’s detention.

“The global movement and family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), under the command and leadership of our great leader and prophet, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, wish to request world leaders, men and women of good conscience across the globe to ask the Nigeria and Kenya governments why they have yet to give any clarification on how our leader was abducted in Kenya and repatriated to Nigeria,” Powerful said in a statement released on Sunday.

“Their inability to explain how our leader was taken and returned to Nigeria, no matter how brilliant they think they are in denying any connection, has simply reinforced their responsibility in the whole incident.” It is a well-established rule that all law-abiding persons are safe in airports around the world. Kenya, on the other hand, has permitted its international airport to be used as a staging area for the tyrannical Nigerian government, which kidnapped our leader, who was traveling to Kenya on a British passport.

“It would be a farce of justice if our leader was put on trial without first receiving clarity on his illegal kidnapping and rendition. The DSS should explain its role in the kidnapping and rendition of our leader. IPOB will not give up its struggle against this injustice perpetrated on law-abiding citizens.”
