On Friday, President Muhammadu Buhari joined international leaders in wishing the Muslim faithful a happy Ramadan, a month of fasting and intense devotion.
Buhari said the month offers a unique opportunity to “feel the hunger experienced by the poor so as to realize what it is like to be deprived and marginalized” in a message to Nigerians and Muslims around the world.
“Muslims should seek more personal discipline, which is required for the fulfillment of a strong nation,” Buhari said.
Garba Shehu, the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, made the announcement.
