Sanusi Rikiji, the Chief of Staff to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has quit his position and shown interest in contesting the next Senate by-election for the Zamfara Central senatorial seat.

Senator Hassan Mohammed Gusau resigned from the Senate after being appointed Deputy Governor to Bello Mohammed Matawalle, and Rikiji said he quit because he made up his mind to run for the vacant Senate seat.

Before being named Chief of Staff to Femi Gbajamibiala, the Chief of Staff was the immediate former Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly.

Rikiji was at the state headquarters of the All Progressives Congress (APC), where he expressed interest in running for the Zamfara central senatorial seat.

He proclaimed his interest in the senate position before the state APC executives, led by Tukur Danfulani, saying he wished to give his quota to the state’s political and socio-economic advancement.

The former Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Legislature stated that he hopes to add quality to the prior senators’ good representation in the national assembly.

He was running for Governor Bello Matawalle’s support and assistance in the struggle against security.
