Manchester United star Paul Scholes has slammed Marcus Rashford for his performance in the Red Devils’ 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday night in Spain.

After another lackluster effort against Atletico Madrid, Scholes claimed Rashford is overly anxious and always looking for a’magical’ moment to reclaim his form.

Rashford was unable to make an impact at the Wanda Metropolitano, and Man United interim manager Ralf Rangnick substituted Anthony Elanga in the 75th minute.

Man United eventually tied with Atletico Madrid in the Champions League round of 16 first-leg tie thanks to a late goal from Elanga.

Scholes remarked on BT Sport, “He looks too anxious for me, he looks like he’s trying nearly too much.”

“It almost feels like he’s attempting to accomplish something spectacular every time the ball comes to him.” It’s most likely the worst thing you could do.

“I always remember the manager [Sir Alex Ferguson] telling me to keep it simple when I was going through a difficult time.” Just gradually re-enter the game. He doesn’t appear to be capable of doing so. He’s always thinking about how he needs to create something.

“All he has to do now is calm down, work himself into the game, and his form will return,” he remarked.
