Cristiano Ronaldo has reacted to Manchester United’s 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League round of 16 first leg on Wednesday night.
Ronaldo was unable to lead Manchester United to victory against Atletico Madrid, as both teams drew at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium thanks to two goals from Joao Felix and Anthony Elanga.
In a post on his Instagram account, Ronaldo responded by calling the contest versus Atletico Madrid a “wonderful game,” noting that it was the Champions League, “the mother of all competitions.”
Man United now have a chance to beat Atletico Madrid in the return leg at Old Trafford, according to the Portugal captain.
“It’s always a nice feeling to be back in Madrid, one of the few locations in the world that I’ve come to call “home,” Ronaldo wrote.
“This is Champions League! Amazing feelings, great players, great game!” This is the granddaddy of all club competitions! Now we have the chance to bring this to a close at our own stadium, demonstrating why Old Trafford is and always will be The Theatre Of Dreams.
“Last but not least, thank you to all of our wonderful supporters!” Your presence strengthens us, and we shall move forward together! Devils, let’s go!”
