‘Ronaldo is an animal, I was flabbergasted’ – Garcia. Javi Garcia, a former Real Madrid midfielder, has revealed that he was taken aback when he used to train alongside Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo.
Garcia praised Ronaldo as a football ‘beast’ with a remarkable capacity to make quick movements in tight spaces.
The Spaniard joined Benfica shortly after Ronaldo joined Real Madrid, but he did get to workout with him on several occasions.
‘Ronaldo is an animal, I was flabbergasted’ – Garcia. Garcia joined Benfica from Real Madrid in 2009, the same summer in which the Los Blancos paid Manchester United a then-world-record fee of over €100 million for Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo went on to win four Ballon d’Or honors and four Champions League titles during his time at Real Madrid, scoring 450 goals in 439 games and became the club’s all-time leading scorer.
“I left that pre-season for Benfica, but I still trained a few times with Cristiano Ronaldo. I was just flabbergasted, it was inevitable, and I think it happened to all players,” Garcia, who currently plays for Boavista, told AS, as per A Bola.
“All I could think about was where that animal had come from, his ability to dribble was incredible, his movements in short spaces (too),” he added.
