Gary Lineker, a former England striker, has weighed in on Middlebrough’s equalizer against Manchester United in the FA Cup fourth round on Friday night.

In the FA Cup fourth-round tie at Old Trafford, Middlesbrough scored a contentious equalizer against Manchester United.

In the first half, Manchester United took the lead through Jadon Sancho, but Middlesbrough equalized through Matt Crooks, who bundled home the ball after being picked out by Duncan Watmore.

The ball obviously struck Watmore’s arm before he found Crooks, but referee Anthony Taylor upheld the goal after a VAR review.

Man United were knocked out of the FA Cup as Middlesbrough won the match 8-7 on penalties.

After Middlesbrough’s disputed equalizer against Manchester United, Lineker slammed the handball rule as “stupid.”

“The appropriate decision given the stupidity of the legislation,” Lineker remarked in a message via his Twitter profile.

“Clearly an accident, but it would have been disallowed if he had scored himself.” Previously, the handball law was fine. They’ve turned it into a farce.”
