Manchester United Have Decided To Sell Midfielder James Garner. The Manchester Evening News understands United value Garner, 21, between £15million and £20m and Nottingham Forest and Tottenham are interested. Garner is under contract at United until 2024.
United academy graduate Garner only played 22 minutes during the club’s pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia due to injury and started in the friendly with Rayo Vallecano at Old Trafford.
The decision to sell Garner is likely to generate a backlash from United supporters amid the club’s failure to sign a central midfielder.
United manager Erik ten Hag started Scott McTominay and Fred in the 2-1 defeat to Brighton and Fred was substituted after 53 minutes while McTominay’s performance was widely criticised. Ten Hag then dropped McTominay for the loss to Brentford but brought him on for Fred with United 4-0 down at half-time.
Former United manager Jose Mourinho championed Garner, including him in the pre-season tour squad of the United States in 2018 and starting him against San Jose Earthquakes.
