The Colombian winger was recruited by Jurgen Klopp’s team near the close of the January transfer window, despite considerable interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

Diaz was a player the Reds were familiar with prior to seeking a deal for the 25-year-old, having met him twice in the Champions League group stage this season.

What’s apparent is that the former Porto winger has been watching Liverpool closely in recent months.

Te Reds’ new signing has confessed that he has ‘watched’ the club for some time, which was a significant factor in determining whether or not he would suit Klopp’s style of play.

When asked why Anfield was his favorite destination, Diaz told liverpoolfc.com, “It’s a club that I’ve followed for a long time now, and I’ve always watched them play.”

“It’s no secret that the Premier League is one of the top leagues in the world, and I’ve been following and watching football here since I was a kid.” And as for Liverpool, I’m not sure there’s much more I can say about them that hasn’t already been said. Liverpool has always been my first pick since it is a fantastic club, a true reference in the game that has won numerous cups and league crowns.

“It’s difficult to say how many Liverpool games I’ve seen this season; I suppose I’ve seen approximately five.” I’ve seen every game they’ve played in the Champions League, but I was more focused on Porto at the time. I virtually always attempted to watch Liverpool’s big games whenever I could because they are usually engaged in the big games – and the Premier League features a lot of important, interesting games.

“It’s the ideal team for me, and my decision to come here was partly based on that.” I knew the team’s style of play would be beneficial to me, and that it would be extremely beneficial to me. This is a critical time for me, and I’m focused on giving it my all since the first step is to be available and totally match-fit so that I can contribute and succeed on the field.”

Liverpool still have a lot of football left to play for this season, and Diaz is expected to play a big role between now and May.

Manchester City remain in contention for the Premier League title, but there are also aspirations for another memorable European campaign.

“I’m dedicated to being accessible from today, the first day I’ve here,” Diaz said, emphasizing his desire to contribute to the team’s success. I’ve already done some training today, both on the pitch and in the gym.

“So, like you mentioned, my mindset is that I’m ready to assist my team, do my part, and contribute.” I’m available to the manager and his coaching team for anything they need, and I’ll be ready to go anytime they need me.”
