The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has set a new date for the third-place final match of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The AFCON third-place final, which was initially set for Sunday, February 6, 2022, has been rescheduled to Saturday, February 5, 2022, according to a statement released by CAF on Wednesday.

The third-place match will be held at Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium and will begin at 20:30 hrs.

After consulting with the Cameroonian government and the Local Organising Committee, CAF made the decision (LOC).

“After discussions with both the Government of Cameroon and the Local Organising Committee (LOC), the CAF TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Organising Committee has made the decision to move the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Cameroon 2021 third and fourth place matches originally scheduled for Sunday, February 06, 2022, to Saturday, February 05, 2022,” the statement read.

“The game, which will be held at Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium, will begin at 20h00.”

Senegal, meanwhile, has qualified for the AFCON final after defeating Burkina Faso.

In Sunday’s final, the Teranga Lions will face the victor of the Cameroon-Egypt match.

Burkina Faso, on either hand, will play the loser of the third-place match between Cameroon and Egypt.
