Victor Osimhen has been praised by former Nigeria international Daniel Amokachi, who claims that the Super Eagles’ striker fought relentlessly to guarantee that Nigeria qualified for the 2022 World Cup, despite the fact that most of his colleagues were born abroad.

Amokachi claimed Osimhen did well against Ghana, adding that the former Lille player knows what it takes to play for Nigeria because he used to sell pure water on the Third Mainland Bridge.

Osimhen impressed during Nigeria’s 2022 FIFA World Cup double-leg playoff against Ghana in March, according to 360 MEDIA.

The Napoli star, however, was unable to help Nigeria qualify for the World Cup in Qatar, after the Super Eagles were defeated by the Black Stars by an away goal in the second leg playoff last week at the MKO Abiola Stadium.

“In Nigeria and Africa, football is a religion. If we don’t have players like Osimhen, who sold pure water on the Third Mainland Bridge, you can see how he plays and what it takes to play for Nigeria. That’s why he’s working 24 hours a day, seven days a week to ensure we win,” Amokachi stated on SuperSport Naija Made.

“Then there are players who grew up outside of Nigeria and have no idea what it means to wear the national colors in the World Cup; it’s a different story.”

“Several of the players have never been to a World Cup and have no idea what it entails. “Ninety percent of those guys have never seen the Nigerian stadium fill up like it did,” he said.

In the 2022 World Cup qualification, Osimhen was Nigeria’s highest scorer.
