Vincent Aboubakar, Cameroon’s captain and top scorer in the Africa Cup of Nations, has blamed his teammates for the team’s semi-final loss to Egypt.

Aboubakar accused his teammates of doing whatever they wanted on the field, implying that their defeat was due to a lack of teamwork.

After 120 minutes of football ended in a draw at the Olembe stadium in Yaoundé, the Indomitable Lions were defeated 3-1 on penalties by the Pharaohs.

Despite controlling the first half of the match, Cameroon was defeated.

During the penalty shootout, Aboubakar scored Cameroon’s solitary goal, while Egypt’s Abou Gabal made two saves before Clinton Njie’s effort went wide.

“It’s a great disappointment,” Aboubakar said in his post-match press conference to the press.

“Cameroon hosts a CAN and is knocked out in the semi-finals.” Everyone wanted to do their own thing, and the result is what we have today. We do great things when we play together.”

In the third-place encounter on Saturday, the Indomitable Lions will meet Burkina Faso.
