Trevoh Chalobah, a Chelsea defender, has named Reece James and Mason Mount as two Blues players who have encouraged him to work hard at the club.
Chalobah spent last season on loan at Lorient in the French Ligue 1, and he was likely expecting to find another loan club before Thomas Tuchel opted to include him in pre-season.
Chalobah told Chelsea’s official website, “That was my incentive.”
“I watched all of Mason Mount’s and Reece James’ Chelsea games when [Frank] Lampard was in charge. I’d race home to catch up on the games. It’s huge to see them play for Chelsea.
“I used to play with them when they were all different ages, and then I used to watch them play on TV.”
“Training with those two [Mason and Reece] brought back memories of when I used to train with them when I was in the Academy, so yes, it made me feel secure and relaxed.”
