Ademola Lookman, a Leicester City winger, has revealed why he left England for Nigeria.

Lookman was a member of England’s youth teams, including the U-20 side that won the FIFA World Cup in South Korea in 2017.

The 24-year-old said he accepted to represent Nigeria through his parents after receiving authorisation from the Federation Of International Football Association (FIFA) last month.

Lookman made his debut in a 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff match against Ghana’s Black Stars last Friday in Kumasi, replacing Moses Simon in the 74th minute.

“I am really excited to be a part of Nigeria’s national squad,” Lookman told CAFOnline.com. “I am feeling blessed and looking forward to aiding the team.”

“Both of my parents are Nigerians, and I’ve always considered [representing Nigeria] as an option.” When I was younger, I visited Nigeria frequently.

“I know the people and have raised a family here, so the move from England to Nigeria is not unique for me.” “I’m delighted I made the change.”
