Adunni Ade, a Nollywood actress and producer, has revealed that Nollywood filmmakers pay actors peanuts in the film industry.

Adunni stated this during an appearance on Channels TV’s Rubbin Minds show.

She suggested that filmmakers, particularly in the Yoruba film business, quit expecting actors to do them a favor and instead pay them what they are worth.

“This isn’t me yelling at anyone. I believe it is past time for actors in the film industry to be compensated for their work.

“Stop asking talented people to do you a favor and then paying them peanuts.”

Stakeholders, she said, must let go of their avarice and stop exploiting talents in the name of providing them with a platform.

“People must let rid of their greed. Many folks simply want an actor or filmmaker to assist them. You can’t keep doing it and expect to get rich while they stay in the same place. It’s common in Yoruba Nollywood,” Adunni explained.

The mother of two also urged actors who do anything only to get into the profession and become famous to market their talent through alternative channels such as social media.

“People who don’t come from a wealthy family will do anything to get in.” I constantly telling people that whatever will happen, will happen. You are not obligated to become renowned right away.

“You can now enter into the profession without selling your soul thanks to social media and other ways,” the actor urged.
