According to Deadline, the project is titled Michael and is produced by Graham King, who also produced Bohemian Rhapsody.

The outlet states the biopic comes with the ‘blessing of the pop legend’s estate’.

Michael has been written by John Logan, who has previously worked with Graham on The Aviator.

John Branca and John McClain, the co-executors of the Michael Jackson estate, are also set to co-produce.

A plot summary reads: ‘Michael is set to be an in-depth portrayal of a complicated man who became the King of Pop. It will bring to life Jackson’s most iconic performances as it gives an informed insight into the entertainer’s artistic process and personal life.’

Graham says that he ‘first met the Jackson family in 1981’, and he feels ‘humbled to bring their legacy to the big screen’.

‘Sitting at Dodger Stadium watching the Victory Tour, I could never have imagined that nearly 38 years later I would get the privilege to be a part of this film,’ he said.

Michael‘s mother Katherine Jackson has also shared her approval for the project following the Thriller hitmaker’s love for film.

‘Ever since Michael was little, as a member of The Jackson 5, he loved the magic of cinema. As a family, we are honoured to have our life story come alive on the big screen,’ she shared.

Michael died in June 2009, aged 50.

He suffered a cardiac arrest less than three weeks before the first This Is It show was due to begin in London.

He is known to be one of the best-selling music artists of all time.

Michael isn’t the only Jackson sibling to have their life shared on-screen, as sister Janet recently released her own highly-anticipated documentary.

Titled Janet, the doc drops several bombshells and offers insight into the musician’s career, exposing everything from the Justin Timberlake scandal to her ‘secret baby’ with James DeBarge.

Janet also discusses tension with her superstar brother, and how she lost a mega deal with Coca-Cola amid Michael’s sexual assault allegations.
