Rikhado Muziwendlovu Makhado, better known as Riky Rick, was a well-known South African rapper.
The 34-year-old rapper allegedly committed suicide at his home on Wednesday.
Ricky was said to have hanged himself with a rope after being depressed for a long time.
He was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead there.
Sheikani Makhado, the deceased’s family spokesperson, announced his death in a statement.
“Son, husband, father, brother, and uncle, Riky ‘Ricky’ Makhado (aged 34) unfortunately passed away in the early hours of this morning (23rd February) in Johannesburg,” according to the statement.
“Riky’s nurturing and grooming of youthful musical talent is well documented and will forever be remembered,” the family said.
Amantombazane, Boss Zonke, and Sidlukotini were among his best-known songs.
Ricky Rick revealed his battle with depression when his father died in 2020.
Bianca Naidoo, his wife, and their two children survive him.
