Martin Keown, an Arsenal veteran, has warned that his former club could yet miss out on a top-four finish.
The Gunners overcame Aston Villa 1-0 at Villa Park on Saturday, bouncing back following a 1-0 loss to Liverpool in midweek.
Mikel Arteta’s side now have a four-point lead over Manchester United, who are in fifth place.
However, Keown believes that Tottenham Hotspur, who are currently in seventh place with 48 points, can earn the final Champions League position.
“There are still a lot of games to come, but I still think Spurs will finish in the top four.” Let’s see if they’re up to the task. We’ll see what happens with Arsenal now, but looking at the schedule and seeing games away at Chelsea and Spurs makes it difficult. It is in Arsenal’s hands, and if they continue to perform at their current level, they will succeed.
“I don’t want to put the Arsenal players under too much strain.” As I previously stated, they are rebuilding their reputation, and they have been guilty of giving too many pats on the back at times, causing them to lose focus. Is there a difference now? “They have to demonstrate it,” Keown stated.
