After Paris Saint-Champions Germain’s League exit to Real Madrid on Wednesday, Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez said that he spoke with Lionel Messi.
With 30 minutes remaining and a 2-0 aggregate lead, PSG dropped their intensity, allowing Real Madrid to take advantage of several of their significant blunders, with Karim Benzema hitting a hat-trick in under 17 minutes.
Messi and Xavi played together for many years in Barcelona and have a terrific relationship.
After Real Madrid came back to overcome PSG 3-2 on aggregate, Xavi claimed he immediately texted his pal, reminding him that such things happen in football.
“I have a friendship with Messi, and I sent him some simple support and nothing else,” Xavi said ahead of a match against Osasuna in his pre-match press conference.
“It’s part of the game; just when everything seemed to be going well for PSG, Real Madrid come up and turned everything around.”
“It’s the same way with the Champions League.” Your opponent will be able to go by you if you lessen your intensity.”
