Rio Ferdinand, a Manchester United great, has slammed the team following their lackluster performance against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League round of sixteen on Wednesday.
Anthony Elanga came off the bench late in the game to equalize for the Red Devils, who had looked completely disorganized in the first half.
The victory gave the Red Devils a greater chance in the second leg, which takes place three weeks later.
“Look, before the game, Man United would have taken that result,” Ferdinand stated on BT Sport.
“However, they struck it rich tonight. They were sloppy in their play, especially in the first half.
“However, when it comes to football at this level, the question is frequently asked, ‘Can you weather the storm and stay in the game?’
“David de Gea didn’t have much to do with United’s poor performance. He stated, “You wanted a better performance, but they got a result.”
