Valencia at the Mestalla is typically a difficult match, but not for Xavi, who could not have coached a more convincing victory over Los Che. The Blaugranes scored three goals in the first half alone, and the game concluded 1-4.
In the first half, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored two goals, displaying his seasoned off-the-ball movement and finishing in front of goal. Frenkie de Jong and Pedri also scored, but Pedri’s goal has been disallowed and Aubameyang has been given the goal instead.
Pedri came on in the 60th minute, and was given the invitation to shoot when Omar Alderete’s interception on Ferran Torres found its way to him. The midfielder did not hesitate, and let one out, and it crashed into the roof of the not.
It did, however, as one suspected, take a deflection off Aubameyang’s back, changing the direction. The referee, in his post-game report, decided it was strong enough to award to the Gabonese striker.
