Rio Ferdinand has selected the world’s top three goalkeepers, praising Chelsea’s Edouard Mendy for winning the Africa Cup of Nations.
Last season, Mendy dethroned Kepa Arrizabalaga as Chelsea’s first-choice shot-stopper, helping the Blues win the Champions League.
Senegal won the Africa Cup of Nations this week, with the 29-year-old saving a penalty in a shootout triumph over Egypt.
And Ferdinand praised the African champion’s performance over the past 12 months, calling him “impeccable.”
Mendy, Manchester City’s Ederson, and Manchester United’s David de Gea are the three best goalkeepers in the world, according to him.
“If I was picking a goalkeeper right now in the world, I think my top three keepers would be – and maybe people say you’re biased because of the Premier League – but it would be Mendy, Ederson, and on form right now De Gea,” Ferdinand stated on the FIVE YouTube channel.
“For me, Mendy stands out, especially in the last year; he’s been flawless.”
