Senator Bukola Saraki, the former President of the Nigerian Senate and a presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has stated that he and other PDP presidential aspirants are currently working on developing a consensus presidential candidate capable of addressing Nigeria’s current insecurity.

He said this following a closed-door meeting with Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in his country house of Umuobiakwa in the Obingwa Local Government Area of the state, where he was joined by other prominent PDP presidential aspirants.

His statement was contained in a press release issued on Friday in Umuahia, the state capital, and made accessible to 360MEDIA.

The hopefuls were in Abia to discuss the possibilities of a presidential candidate for the main opposition party that might be agreed upon.

Along with Saraki, other presidential hopefuls who paid a visit to the Abia Governor were Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, Bauchi State Senator Bala Mohammed, and Dr Mohammed Hayatudeen.

Saraki insisted that the PDP is motivated by a desire to turn Nigeria around, and he voiced confidence that the party would win the country’s future general election in 2023.

When asked why Atiku Abubakar, Nigeria’s former vice president, was not among the party’s presidential candidates, he said: “He is totally part of the mission and receives full briefings on their agreed mission,” Saraki, a former Governor of Kwara State, added.

According to the release by Ememanka, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu was joined in receiving the PDP Presidential aspirants by a delegation led by the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Christopher Ekweremadu and a foremost industrialist, Elder Raymond Aliga.
