Mary Remmy Njoku, a Nollywood actress and the CEO of ROK Studios, has reacted to Nigeria’s Super Eagles being disqualified from the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar after losing to Ghana’s Black Stars in Abuja on Tuesday.
Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the World Cup, according to Njoku, would have been a distraction.
At the MKO Abiola Stadium, the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers between Nigeria and Ghana ended in a 1-1 draw.
The Black Stars qualified for the World Cup on away goals after a 0-0 stalemate in the first leg in Kumasi last week.
In response, Njoku said in an Instagram post that there are problems in Nigeria that need to be addressed, and she urged residents to focus on them and put pressure on the federal government to act.
Njoku criticized Nigeria’s growing insecurity, citing recent attacks on a train and an airport in Kaduna.
She said: “Thank God we didn’t qualify for the world cup. It would have been inconvenient. We need to concentrate on Nigeria’s fundamental challenges and put pressure on the government to act.
“A train attack!” exclaims the narrator. At the airport, there was an attack. Nigeria’s insecurity is concerning. There will be no more unneeded distractions!!! This is something that requires everyone’s attention.”
