The Senate has approved a bill to establish the National Assembly Library Trust Fund for approval.
Three other proposals, including the Nigerian Council for Management Development Bill, 2022, the Animal Health and Husbandry Technologists Registration Board (Establishment) Bill, 2022, and the Federal Medical Centre Billiri, Gombe State (Establishment) Bill, 2022, were also passed for concurrence.
Yahaya Abdullahi, the Senate Leader, sponsored the four proposals (Kebbi North).
Senator Abdullahi stated in his presentation that the National Assembly Library Trust Fund, once established, will promote research and library capacity for the National Assembly’s Legislature and staff.
In a related development, three proposals advanced to the second reading stage on Tuesday.
The Chartered Institute of Mortgage Bankers and Brokers of Nigeria, the Federal University of Medical Sciences, Gwadabawa, Sokoto State, and the Sickle Cell Disease Research and Treatment Centre are all proposed in the laws.
Senators Tolulope Odebiyi (Ogun West), Ibrahim Gobir (Sokoto East), and Akon Etim Eyakenyi (Akwa-Ibom) sponsored the bills.
Following deliberation, the bills were referred to the Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions; Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND; and Health Committees (Secondary and Tertiary).
The committees were allowed four weeks to present their findings before the chamber in plenary.
