Stanford Onyirimba, the former Imo Majority Leader, has died.
Political associates were startled and devastated to learn about Onyirimba’s death on the evening of March 11, 2022.
From 1999 to 2007, Onyirimba, who was born on May 22, 1959, was the Majority Leader of the Imo State House of Assembly.
Mr Kennedy Ibeh, Speaker of the Imo House of Assembly, expressed shock over Onyirimba’s death.
On Saturday, he issued a press statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Ifeanyi Onyekachi, expressing his sympathies.
“One of the finest MPs of our time who stood for justice,” the Speaker said of the late Onyirimba.
“He was a sharp politician and a notable lawmaker who left an indelible mark on the history of the Imo Assembly as a fearless majority leader who stood with the people when it counted,” Ibeh added.
“We cannot question the will of God whom it pleased to call him now,” the Speaker said, despite the fact that he died at a time when his political experience was most needed in Imo and the country.
“We hope to God to provide members of his immediate family, as well as his political associates, the strength to suffer this irreparable loss,” he stated.
