IPOB, the Indigenous People of Biafra, accused the Miyetti Allah bodies of working with security authorities to coerce vigilante groups across the Southeast to surrender their guns on Saturday.
The agreement, according to IPOB, is intended to destabilize the Southeast and open the way for Fulani bandits to invade the region.
The assertion was made by Emma Powerful, an IPOB spokesman, in a statement in which he raised an alert about in flock hunters into the Southeast.
“We, the global movement and family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), ably led by our great indefatigable liberator, Mazi Nnamdi Okwuchukwu KANU, have uncovered a secret meeting Miyetti Allah held with the hierarchy of various security agencies to disarm vigilante groups in Biafra land,” according to Powerful. At the summit, they agreed that all vigilante organizations in Biafra land should hand over their weapons to security agents.
“Their goal is to weaken our people and pave the way for Fulani criminals posing as herders to invade our communities.” We wish to alert the rest of the world to this heinous conspiracy.
“We also express concern about the influx of Fulani rapists and terrorists known as Fulani hunters in our country.” Our people must be cautious because Fulani and Miyetti Allah have devised a new method of murdering our people in Biafraland’s jungles and forests.
“The Nigerian government’s recent attempt to confiscate guns from vigilante organizations in every community in Biafraland was planned to render our security and vigilante men powerless, allowing their criminal gangs to infiltrate our villages.
“We, therefore, urge vigilante groups in various communities never to surrender their weapons to security agencies that cannot guarantee the security of our people. Doing so amounts to rendering our communities vulnerable.
“We also want to caution all communities in Biafraland to be on red alert over the plot by the enemies of Biafra to use their agents of death to inflict pain and sorrow on our people.
“Security should be beefed up around all Biafran communities because our enemies are not sleeping.”
