Pastor David Ibiyeomie of Salvation Ministry claims that a high percentage of divorce is currently occurring over the world as a result of couples’ ideologies prior to marriage.
The renowned clergyman said during a sermon at the church’s headquarters in Port Harcourt that some people enter marriage with the intention of divorcing if things go bad.
He urged church members to embrace marriage with the idea of staying forever, saying it is inappropriate to expect divorce in marriage.
“They believe there must be problems in every marriage,” he explained, “and if you ask them why, they say we should expect it when we marry.”
“Did you realize that some people expect to divorce before getting married?” “If it doesn’t work, I’ll walk away,” they’ll say. As a result, failure has been a part of the marriage from the beginning because the expectations were incorrect.
“Look, I’m going in, and if it doesn’t work, I’m stepping out.” I can predict that you will divorce since you have a flawed expectation from the start. Why do you think you’ll have to leave?
“You won’t be puzzled by anything when you have a strong expectation; you’re certain that this event must happen.”
