Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, a lawyer, has spoken out against Omoyele Sowore’s detention.
The publisher of the Sahara Reporters was detained by police in Abuja on Thursday for reasons that have yet to be revealed.
Adegboruwa expressed his dissatisfaction with his lack of access to lawyers, doctors, family members, allies, and comrades.
According to the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), governmental machinery should not be used against an individual “just because he wants a better country.”
“For his lawful campaigns for democracy and decent government, Sowore has been facing trial.”
His statement continued, “He has been constrained to Abuja, where he has been staying for well over four years.”
“The younger brother was just attacked and brutally murdered in strange circumstances.
“I urge President Muhammadu Buhari’s government to protect all citizens’ fundamental rights, including those of Sowore.”
Adegboruwa believes he should be released or charged in court for whatever crime he is accused of.
