On Saturday in Ilorin, Senate President Ahmed Lawan urged for the correct capture of traditional rulers’ functions in the country’s constitution.

He said traditional rulers deserved adequately defined roles and acknowledgment to enable them to fulfill their jobs better during a courtesy call on the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Zulu Gambari, at his palace in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

In response to the Federal Government’s security challenges, he stated that conventional institutions would be required to ensure citizen mobilization in order to accomplish the desired objective.

Traditional rulers, according to the Emir of Ilorin, are not seeking legislative or judicial duties, but rather advisory roles, as they have no desire to compete with any political institution.

Senator President Bukola Saraki was in Ilorin with six other senators to attend the opening of Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar’s 2022 empowerment initiative, which he represents in the state’s Kwara North Senatorial District.
