Justice Akintayo Aluko of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, has ordered the seizure of land owned by Diezani Alison-Madueke, the former Minister of Petroleum Resources.
Site 13, Block I, Oniru Chieftaincy Family Private Estate in Lagos is where the vacant plot is located.
In 2018, Justice Babs Kuewuni ordered the land to be forfeited in the interim.
He made the decision after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission filed an ex parte application (EFCC).
Diezani, a lawyer Donald Chidi Amamgbo, and MEZ Group LLC were named as respondents in the FHC/L/ CS/811/2018 lawsuit.
The EFCC was then instructed by Justice Kuewumi to notify anyone or individuals linked with the property to show cause against a final confiscation through the media.
Diezani lost assets worth billions of naira to the Nigerian government in 2017 in Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Abuja.
A forfeiture order was issued by Justice Abdulaziz Anka of the Federal High Court in Lagos against a 21-mixed housing unit at 7 Thurnburn Street and 5 Raymond Street, Yaba, valued at N937 million.
A total of 16 four-bedroom terrace buildings valued at N928 million were also affected in Heritage Court Estate, Omerelu Street, Diobu GRA, Port-Harcourt.
The court also ordered the forfeiture of 13 three-bedroom houses with a one-room maid’s quarter located at Mabushi Gardens Estate, Plot 1205, Cadastral Zone B06, Mabushi, valued at N650 million.
Six three-bedroom flats and one boys quarter at Plot 808 (135) Awolowo Road, Ikoyi are also valued at N805 million.
Diezani, Amamgbo, Chapel Properties Limited, Blue Nile Estate Limited, Azinga Meadows Nigeria Limited, and Vistapoint Property Development Limited, according to the EFCC, purchased the properties.
According to an affidavit sworn to lawyer Sambo Muazu Mayana, a search warrant was conducted at Amamgbo’s office and premises following an intelligence tip.
Among the documents found was a document headed “Highly Confidential Attorney Work Product – August Report,” which listed 18 corporations and properties in Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
