Joshua Sunday, often known as De General, a Nigerian comedian, has stated that he is not a drug trafficker.

After being released from custody, De General announced this in a new video posted to his Instagram feed.

If he had been a drug trafficker, the skit maker stated that he would not have been released from detention.

“As you can see, I’m still alive and well, and I’m back in the house.” I simply want to refute reports that De General is a narcotics trafficker.

“I’m not a drug smuggler.” Do you think they’d let me leave like that if I were a drug trafficker? “I simply transport laughter,” he explained.

The comedian was arrested, according to 360MEDIA, after drugs were allegedly discovered in his flat.

De General and Caleb William were found guilty of narcotics trafficking by a Federal High Court in Lagos for illegally dealing in 15 grams of cannabis and 14 grams of tramadol in Lagos State.

Both of them were accused with three counts of trafficking Tramadol and Cannabis Sativa in court.

The two claimed the court after pleading guilty that they had never tasted drugs and that the drugs found on them were just props for their comedic routine.

In his ruling, Justice Daniel Osiagor stated that the amount of substance on them was insignificant, and that he’d rather convict and caution the defendants than sentence them.

The defendants were warned by the judge and told to “go and sin no more.”
