Mr. Timipade Kemepade, a repentant candidate, has written to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) requesting forgiveness for his involvement in examination malpractice in the course of obtaining the result of the University Matriculation Examination (UME), now known as the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), which he sat twenty-one years ago.

According to JAMB’s latest bulletin, the candidate blamed his misbehavior on young exuberance.

Part of the letter read:

“With regret and sincere apology to JAMB, 1, Timipade Kemepade, with Certificate No. 33208803GA confess that l participated in examination malpractice 21 years ago while sitting my JAMB examination.”

The letter continued, “I, therefore, seek the forgiveness of JAMB. I sincerely regret my youthful exuberance.”

In response to Mr. Kemepade, the Board stated that the apology and subsequent admission of guilt are “rejected in their whole and, as a result, are not admissible.”

As a result, Mr. Kemepade was informed by the Board that acceptance of his apologies is contingent on his readiness to renounce all certificates obtained falsely as a result of the University Matriculation.
