Thiago Silva Joins Ronaldo as Brazilians to Make History Playing Against Ghana. Thiago Silva of Chelsea broke the previous record by winning the most caps of any defender in Brazilian history.

The 38-year-old made the milestone after playing in Brazil’s international friendly match against Ghana.

In Le Havre, Brazil trounced Ghana 3-0 as preparations for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar began.

Following his record-breaking appearance against Ghana in an international friendly last Friday, Thiago Silva has now earned every single one of Brazil’s defenders a cap.

In Le Havre, France, the South Americans thrashed Ghana 3-0, and the 38-year-old Chelsea center-back played 45 minutes of the game. In addition to Marquinho’s opening header, Richarlison also scored twice.

He joins Ronaldo, who also made history playing against Ghana, when he scored his 15th World Cup goal against the Africans at the 2006 tournament. He was the all time top scorer at the Mundial until Miroslav Klose equalled and broke the record, scoring against Ghana in 2014.

The former PSG and AC Milan star will captain the five-time world champions at the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.

Brazil will be hoping to reclaim the title they last won in 2002 at the tournament to be played in November and December.

Richarlison scores brace as Brazil beat Ghana

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Richarlison netted a first half brace as Brazil cruised to victory against Ghana in their penultimate friendly ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Paris Saint Germain defender Marquinhos opened the scoring after eight minutes to add to Richarlison double as the South Americans defeated Ghana in Le Havre.

The Selacaos got off to a bright start with Richarlison getting the first chance after just four minutes, but the Tottenham forward missed by inches wide.

Thiago Silva’s wife spotted supporting her husband as Brazil beat Ghana

Wife of Brazil and Chelsea defender Thiago Silva, Belle, has been spotted in France as she supports her husband in the friendly against Ghana.

Brazil face the four times African champions as part of preparation ahead of the World Cup in Qatar later this year.

In photos posted on social media, Belle was in her Brazil jersey as he watched from the stands in Le Havre.
