Marcos Alonso, a Chelsea defender, has shot back at Real Madrid’s Toni Kroos, who stated that his club could overcome Thomas Tuchel’s side in the Champions League quarter-final provided they fixed their mistakes.
Kroos told Diario AS earlier this month that Real Madrid might knock out Champions League holders Chelsea if they fixed their mistakes.
Next month, Real Madrid and Chelsea will face off in the Champions League last eight for a spot in the last four.
Los Blancos were defeated by Chelsea in the competition’s semi-finals last season.
In response to Kroos’ comments, Alonso issued a warning to Real Madrid, citing their previous meeting.
“Last year, we shown what we are capable of. It’s a new year, a different time, but we’re up against two fantastic teams, and we’ll give it our all to go to the semi-finals,” Alonso said, according to Football London.
“I don’t think there are any favorites,” he continued. Any team is complicated at this point, and it will undoubtedly be a beautiful and difficult tie. Let’s keep it at that, with a 50/50 probability for each.”
