Mauricio Pochettino, the manager of Paris Saint-Germain, has stated that the change of the Champions League final from St Petersburg to Paris will provide more motivation for his players.
The Champions League final was originally planned for May 28 at Russia’s Gazprom Arena.
The Champions League final will no longer be held in Russia as a result of the invasion of Ukraine.
Instead, the Champions League final will be held at the Stade de France in Paris.
“It’s an extra incentive; there is huge enthusiasm,” Pochettino said at a press conference after PSG defeated St-Etienne 3-1 on Saturday.
“We’ve already played in a Champions League final, which is something incredible.” However, we have a long way to go to get there.”
When Tottenham takes on Real Madrid in the Champions League round of 16 second leg in March, Pochettino’s side will be hoping to expand on their 1-0 lead.
