According to the UK Mirror, Manchester City’s Argentine striker Julian Alvarez has smoothed the way for Manchester United’s Edinson Cavani to join River Plate this summer.
Alvarez, 21, will cost City £15.5 million on front and a further £7 million in potential add-ons.
The prodigy will, however, remain on loan at River Plate until the summer.
Cavani, who is in the final six months of his contract with United, will replace Alvarez at the Argentine club.
River Plate will be able to meet Cavani’s wage demands thanks to the money they will receive from City.
At Old Trafford, Cavani, who turns 35 on February 14, makes more than £250,000 each week.
