Robert Lewandowski of Bayern Munich has tied Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo for the most Champions League goals.

After scoring in his side’s 1-1 quarter-final second leg draw against Villarreal this week, Lewandowski joined Ronaldo and Messi in an exclusive Champions League club.

According to MEN, his goal against Villarreal made him one of just three players in history to score 30 or more Champions League knockout goals.

Bayern Munich took the lead in the second leg of their quarter-final against Villarreal thanks to Lewandowski’s goal.

The Bundesliga powers, however, were unable to advance to the last four of the Champions League.

At the Allianz Arena, Villarreal scored a late equalizer to win the tie 2-1 on aggregate, knocking Bayern Munich out of the competition in the quarter-finals.

That means Lewandowski, Ronaldo and Messi are out of the Champions League as the competition reaches the semi-final stage.

Meanwhile, Lewandowski is currently the top scorer in the Champions League this season with 13

He is ahead of second position Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema, who has 12 goals.
