Following Manchester United’s 4-2 triumph over Leeds United on Sunday, captain Harry Maguire made an open confession.

Maguire scored from a corner for Man United’s first goal at Elland Road, marking the first time in 139 attempts that the Red Devils have scored from a corner.

In his post-match press conference, Maguire was challenged about the statistic, and the England defender agreed it’s an area of Man United’s game they need to improve on soon.

“The statistic [almost 140 corners without a goal] embarrasses me,” Maguire stated.

“I’m a huge part of that set play routine, but we haven’t been good enough as a team.”

“We’d be higher up the table if we scored more from set pieces.”

Man United also scored against Leeds thanks to Bruno Fernandes, Fred, and Anthony Elanga.

“We definitely wanted to get a better start in the second half,” Maguire remarked.

“They came out on top of us; their first goal was clearly really fortunate, but it brought them right back into the game, and they then scored a good goal.”

“We had to fight back and remain together; we knew it was a difficult place to visit, but we knew we possessed qualities that might harm them.”

“We stressed at halftime that we needed to score more goals in the second half, and we did.”
