Guardiola reveals only way Liverpool can be champions as Man City beat Brighton. Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has stated that if his team loses points, Liverpool would be champions.
Guardiola was speaking to the media after Manchester City’s 3-0 victory over Brighton at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.
Guardiola reveals only way Liverpool can be champions as Man City beat Brighton. After a scoreless first half, Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden, and Bernardo Silva scored in the second half to give the champions all three points.
Guardiola’s team now has 77 points after 32 games, one point ahead of Liverpool.
“We had to win 14 games in a row to win the title before,” Guardiola said.
“If we drop points they (Liverpool) will be champions, if we win all our games we will be champions.
“We are now mathematically sure of qualification for the Champions League (next season). Now we know what we have to do.”
