Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, claims that if Marcelo Bielsa had been in charge of Barcelona, he would have won more titles.
Guardiola also admitted that he would not have been able to turn around Leeds United’s fortunes in the same way as Bielsa did.
As the Whites battled relegation from the Premier League, Bielsa was fired by Leeds.
Guardiola still has a lot of respect for the guy who coached him, telling Telemundo Sports: “Give him my Barcelona and you’ll see how he wins titles.”
“Give me Leeds, and I’d still be in the Championship, with all due respect to the Leeds players.”
Bielsa is said to have inspired Guardiola to pursue a coaching career, and the two met in the 2012 Copa del Rey final.
