Gary Neville, a former Manchester United player, has highlighted the club’s ‘one profit’ from their miserable Champions League exit.
Atletico Madrid, the La Liga champions, knocked United out of the Champions League at Old Trafford.
After drawing the first leg of the last-16 encounter 1-1 in Spain, Ralf Rangnick’s side was eliminated from Europe after a narrow defeat at Old Trafford.
The exit, according to Neville, allows them to concentrate all of their efforts on finishing in the Premier League’s top four.
With nine league games remaining, Manchester United is a point behind the fourth place in the Premier League rankings.
“If there is any upside to Manchester United falling out last night, it is that they are now 100 percent focused on the league, and getting into the Champions League is their objective,” Neville told Sky Sports News.
“Their best chance of getting into the Champions League and finishing in the top four is probably to be out of it so they can concentrate on it.”
