Erik ten Hag makes claim on Antony after Man Utd’s latest win. Manchester United boss, Erik ten Hag, has claimed that winger Antony is the ‘missing link’ in his squad following his side’s Premier League 3-1 victory over Arsenal on Sunday.
Antony, who joined Man United from Ajax this summer, scored his first goal for the club as they defeated Arsenal at Old Trafford.
Erik ten Hag makes claim on Antony after Man Utd’s latest win. His teammate, Marcus Rashford, scored two goals against the Gunners to give the host all three points.
Speaking at his post-match press conference, Ten Hag said his team missed a player like Antony, who he coached during their time together at Ajax.
The Dutchman added that the Brazilian could become even more of a ‘threat’ to other Premier League teams.
Ten Hag said, “I think we have all seen what a threat Antony is. His speed and creativity, I think, can be a real threat in the Premier League.
“We missed a player on the right wing because all the players who can play there, like Jadon Sancho, like Marcus Rashford, prefer the centre or the left side.
“Now we have the one who can play really well over on the right wing. That was a missing link. Today, his first performance here, he did well, but I think he can step up.
“I know him from Amsterdam and I know this is a different league, but there is potential and he will be even more of a threat to opponents than he was today.
“But I would say, today already, it was a great goal.”
