Eden Hazard, a winger for Real Madrid, is refusing to leave the club and wants to finish the remaining two years of his contract.
As a result, according to sources, the Belgian has been dubbed the “new Gareth Bale” in Spain.
Hazard has failed to impress since his £98 million move from Chelsea in 2019.
In a career littered with injuries, the 31-year-old has only made 65 appearances.
After falling out of favor under Carlo Ancelotti, Hazard has only started seven LaLiga games this season, and Los Blancos are desperate to get rid of him.
Hazard is resolved to stay and battle for his spot in the team, despite Real’s unsuccessful attempts to sell him in the past two transfer windows and his lack of playing time under Ancelotti.
As a result, he’s being compared to teammate and fellow misfit Gareth Bale, whose contract will ultimately expire this summer after a similar impasse in recent years.
