Thomas Tuchel, Chelsea’s manager, has given a strong message to the club’s new owners.

Tuchel stated that he would prefer Chelsea’s new owners to be less contentious so that he can focus on his job as a coach.

This was stated during the German’s pre-match press conference prior to Chelsea’s Champions League encounter against Lille on Wednesday.

As previously reported, Roman Abramovich is in the process of selling the Blues after being sanctioned by the UK government and has entrusted the process to US merchant bank Raine, with the deadline for bids quickly approaching on Friday.

According to reports, Saudi Media Group has made a £2.7 billion offer for Chelsea, which could fuel even more debate for the west London club.

Remember how the Premier League received a lot of flak after allowing Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund to buy Newcastle United?

After weeks of dealing with the Abramovich fallout on behalf of the Stamford Bridge club’s so far silent hierarchy, Tuchel will surely face more political concerns if the Saudi Arabia bid for Chelsea is successful and avoids any conflict of interest with Newcastle.

“Yeah, but before we consider a new owner, a new owner needs to arrive,” Tuchel said when asked if Saudi Arabian ownership would mean he [Tuchel] would have to continue his duty as a Chelsea’ambassador’ and face more non-football questions.

“And a new owner must be approved and granted permission to own the football club before we can consider it if it is required.”

“On the other hand, I could be the wrong person because there is a procedure for becoming an owner in this league.”

“And, of course, as I told you after the last game, everyone relies on the process’s reliability and the ideals that underpin the decision and authorization to own and govern a club.

“Did I have a say in becoming a Chelsea ambassador? No, I had no choice but to accept this assignment. Do I require it? No.

“However, it’s more or less on a day-to-day basis.” In England, it’s like this: at a football club, there aren’t many people chatting about sports in general. We discuss this structure, which I really like. Of course, there are individuals in charge of various duties and responsibilities.

“However, from the outside, it’s mostly just me who speaks. Was it always pleasant? No. However, I believe it is necessary.

“I don’t give it much thought.” I try to be honest, to provide you with insight, and to supply you with knowledge, but mostly from a sports standpoint and from the perspective of a coach.

“This is what I try to do, and this may be something you can count on.” And I’d be overjoyed if things calmed down and we could talk more about football – I’d be overjoyed.”
