Paul Scholes, a Manchester United veteran, has named Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City as the best midfielder on the planet.
This came after the Belgian shined in Manchester City’s 4-1 triumph over Manchester United on Sunday, scoring two goals.
Before coming off in the 80th minute, the Belgium international scored twice for City in the first half of their derby victory and helped his side totally control the second half.
The 30-year-old City midfielder, who scored his 51st Premier League goal, dominated the midfield and overpowered his opponents.
Scholes, who was a standout midfielder for both his club and nation during his playing days, praised De Bruyne’s goal-scoring ability as well as the rest of his game.
“He’s the best midfielder in the Premier League, and probably the finest in the world.” Scholes told Premier League Productions, “I can’t think of anyone else who touches him.”
“He is in charge of everything.” It’s fine to have footballers who can make beautiful passes and hold possession.
“However, this guy scores goals, creates goals, defends, and makes wonderful passes.
“He’s got everything you’d look for in a top-flight midfielder.”
‘It’s impossible to put a halt to him…
He thinks about a goal every time he gets the ball. He’s thinking about assisting or scoring a goal, which is a fantastic approach.”
